A Special Day In Texas With 400 Librarians At The Setting The Trend Conference!

Setting the Trend...Librarians as Leaders was the place to be in Texas last week as 400 teacher librarians gathered together for the debut of this amazing event in League City, Texas.
I had the honor of kicking off the day,
which was sponsored by Follett, Capstone, Perma-Bound and others,
with my brand new keynote Let's Take A Road Trip! Future Ready...A Library Journey.
I loved being able to share the map that we now have for our Future Ready Librarians journey.

By posing questions, sharing stories and taking apart the gears of the Future Ready Librarians framework,
the librarians were able to think about their own practice and reflect on the skills they have as Future Ready Librarians.
I loved sharing the story behind my new Library Skills series from Cantata Learning and....
playing a message from my friend Olivia, who shares her voice through The LivBites videos and social media.  She had a wonderful message for all of us about empowering our students to be Future Ready too.
After the keynote, I presented with Jason See, Follett School Solutions senior product manager, who happens to be one of the people responsible for creating a lot of the cool new things happening within Destiny Discover.
Jason and I spoke about Leading Curation in Your School,
which ties in perfectly with the Curates Digital Resources and Tools gear from the Future Ready Librarian framework.
If you haven't heard yet, there are big things coming to Follett Destiny Discover this summer!

You can read all about Destiny Collections here on my blog.
Also, you can watch the webinar What's Coming With Destiny 15.0...Featuring Collections with Jason and Don Rokusek, Program Director of Library Solutions for Follett School Solutions, by clicking here in Follett Community.
Everyone was so excited about all the new things to come, especially with Collections.
I was excited to share the Digital Makerspace Collection I created.
To end my time with everyone,

I presented My Favorite Things: Celebrating Good News and Innovation in Libraries.

This is a fun one because I get to share things like...
Biblionasium, my favorite social reading community for kids;
 the Summer Sparks Reading Contest with Buncee and Capstone;
using Buncee as a digital tool to create signage and labels when genrifying your library and much more.
Thank you Follett for bringing me to Texas to kick off a summer of learning, connecting and sharing.

And I have to say, being in Texas with my library friends is just about the best way to spend any day.
